Some patches represent a team, a brand, or an achievement. Others carry something heavier — a name, a date, a face, a memory someone wants to keep close. We produce custom memorial patches, and we treat every one of these orders differently from the moment it comes in.
Where Memorial Patch Requests Come From
Memorial patches don’t come from one specific customer type. We’ve made them for motorcycle clubs honoring a fallen member on a vest, for sports teams memorializing a former player or coach, and for families with no connection to any club or team at all — just someone who wanted to carry a memory with them. There’s no single pattern. It’s a general request that comes up across almost every part of our business.
Real Examples
One of the most meaningful patches we’ve produced was for a family memorializing their daughter — an actual photo-accurate portrait of her, reproduced as a wearable patch. Given the level of detail a real photograph requires, this kind of work goes to the most experienced member of our team, not whoever’s available next. Out of respect for the family, we don’t share names or images from orders like this, but the level of care that went into getting every detail right is the standard we hold for every memorial patch, not the exception.
We’ve also produced simpler tribute patches — text-based designs like a name, an age, and a heart, made in embroidery rather than a photo reproduction. These are just as meaningful in their own way, and the design approach is different: embroidery is built for bold text and simple imagery, not fine photographic detail.
Photo Portraits vs. Text and Symbol Designs
The type of memorial patch that fits best depends on what you’re trying to capture:
- Sublimation/printed patches are the right choice for photo-accurate portraits — an actual face, a specific image, fine detail that embroidery thread can’t reproduce. This is the technique behind our most photo-realistic memorial work.
- Embroidered patches work well for text, dates, names, and simple symbols like a heart or a cross — bold, durable, and well-suited to designs that don’t require photographic detail.
- Chenille is common specifically for biker memorial patches, since it matches the traditional look of vest patches worn alongside a club’s other patches.
How We Handle These Orders
Memorial orders get extra care and are treated as a priority within our production queue — not necessarily faster than our standard 14-day turnaround, but they move ahead of other orders in line rather than waiting their normal turn. If a request is small and genuinely time-sensitive — needed for a service, an anniversary, or another specific date — we’ll treat it as a rush order to help make that date. Photo-based memorial patches specifically are handled by the most experienced person on our team, given how much the final result depends on getting every detail right the first time.
Getting Started
If you’re considering a memorial patch — for a club member, a family member, a teammate, or anyone else — reach out and let us know what you’re picturing. We’ll walk you through whether a photo portrait or a simpler text-based design is the right fit, and if there’s a specific date you need it by, tell us upfront so we can plan around it.
